I essentially followed the debian guidelines. It needed some tweaks, but dpkg-source was kind enough to tell me what I needed to type. For getting the thing signed, this was very helpful.
So I now have a Debian (Ubuntu 12.10) package for xml2rfc version 2, compared to version 1, it has the following advantages:
- Written in a normal scripting language: Python.
- Fast;
- Stricter on XML compliance.
