I essentially followed the debian guidelines. It needed some tweaks, but dpkg-source was kind enough to tell me what I needed to type. For getting the thing signed, this was very helpful.

So I now have a Debian (Ubuntu 12.10) package for xml2rfc version 2, compared to version 1, it has the following advantages:

• Written in a normal scripting language: Python.
• Fast;
• Stricter on XML compliance.

If you want to build for your self, get these files:

• xml2rfc_2.3.9-1.dsc
• xml2rfc_2.3.9-1.debian.tar.gz
• xml2rfc_2.3.9.orig.tar.gz
